Beyond Adobe’s true passion is Design+Build projects and it shows. We take great pride and thoughtful patience to create homes rather than just a house. Our in-house design team specializes in smaller homes that stress “elegance in simplicity.” We provide services from design conception to construction completion. A Deign + Build project service offers the the flexibility and creativity to meet one’s daily needs while inspiring one’s hopes and dreams.
By using Beyond Adobe for your entire Design + Build process, you can both manage costs significantly and reduce the time it takes to complete the project. Beyond Adobe’s only focus is adobe building. This commitment and learned knowledge allows for designs and buildings that highlight adobes’ advantages and beauty while simplifing construction methods and means.
We strive to incorporate sustainable methods and materials. Some include active and passive solar orientation, clay and lime plasters, and local harvested timbers. All elements combine to provide richly appointed homes.
Costs:
Design + Build costs vary from project to project. Costs are dependent on a variety of factors but none more influential than you the client! You will decide the ultimate size of the project, quality of the materials and the final budget. We can only tell you what we can build it for.
That said, here are what we’ve experienced out in the mud... I mean field:
Beyond Adobe Design Services for smaller homes (1,500 sq/ft or less) are typically developed for under $5.00 per square foot. Cabins, small shelters, accessory buildings are much less. Homes of a larger nature, sites with difficult terrain and design requests outside the norm will often cost substantially more. Normally, engineering costs can be avoided if the design can stay within the normal practices and conditions commonly seen in the field and allowed in the code.
How much can you build it for? A common question asked and here is our answer. An average Beyond Adobe Design + Build is around $150 a foot. Want a full off the grid power supply? Expect to pay closer to $200 a foot. If you can deal with a mud on the walls, site built concrete counter-tops, simple hip roofed cabin, maybe we can build it under a $100 a foot. Need 3,000 square foot of elegance with venetian-quality plaster, antique wood floors, and a copper roof…well, you get the picture.
